One more small non-urgent feature request: To include time stamp, link to original webpag and/or window/tab title at the top of generated youtube-page-links of the source page, on which bytubed work on.

Sometimes I work on several sites in parallel and it become confusing.....
Hi, this is a great program, cannot be without it! But I note that some downloads especially when you put a large # to download, the videos do not download entirely. Could you please look into this and rectify it. Thanks again!

Yes... the reason why that happens is because YouTube assigns an expiry time to each download link. After this expiry time the link dies. This expiry time is typically 6.5 hours to 7 hours. So all the videos that you intend to download must be downloaded within this duration or some of them must be rescheduled. BYTubeD can't do anything about it; this is the way YouTube works.
Will you please make HD support available.
It's a request and your addon is awesome...It helped me download Lessons from youtube.
Thankyou

I don't clearly know how HD differs from HQ (High Quality). But BYTubeD can help you get HQ videos. You can get the highest quality videos available on YouTube by checking the "Always get highest quality..." checkbox in the Preferences tab. By the way BYTubeD does not attempt any format conversions or quality enhancement. It can help you get only those formats which YouTube offers.

In any case, please let me know if that satisfies your requirements.

It's actually there at the end of  the text above. In case you didn't notice, here is the link again: http://www.cse.iitk.ac.in/users/msram/bytubed/BYT...
We need FireFox 8 support as well. Without it I cannot upgrade ;-)

Just realized this beta works with FF8...
By the way, is it working fine with FF8? I haven't done anything special - just changed the maxVersion. So wondering if there could be any issues! :D
Works perfectly. No issues to report.
1. Any chance of adding ability to sort list by Title instead of number. Some lists I look at have a mixed order by number, yet the title contains correct order.
eg. 1 The quick brown fox Episode 2
2 The quick brown fox Episode 3
3 The quick brown fox Episode 1
You can see that sorting by title would be much better in this case.

2. Is it possible to get download size as a column on each row?

Great app, thanks.

I was trying to get the video list sorted by video titles. But it turns out that it's not of much use because of the following reasons:

(i) Typically a YouTube page contains a mixture of videos from different channels/topics, in which case things will get mixed up from different channels/topics even after sorting because videos from two different sources may have similar titles. For example, please see this screenshot. It's a screenshot of BYTubeD with sorting capability, invoked on this page. Here the videos at S.No 7, 8, 9 and 10 belong to three different topics, yet they are listed consecutively because of the substring "Lecture 1" present in all of these titles.

(ii) Also after "Lecture 1 ..." we would want to see "Lecture 2 ..."; but because of the way string sorting works, we will see "Lecture 10 ..." to "Lecture 19 ..." before we see "Lecture 2 ...", which again is not of much use.

So sorting by titles doesn't seem useful either. It seems to make a good sense only in a very few situations.

And talking of the download sizes, it is not possible to show the download size as a column in the first window along with S.No and Title, because different file types and different video qualities will yield different download sizes. Fetching the download size information is a quite costly operation for some reason - costly in terms of the time needed to fetch it. It takes around 15-20 seconds to fetch the file size information for each downloadable YouTube video. If we have to dynamically fetch this information for all videos whenever the user changes the format/quality preferences, it will introduce some awkward delays, if at all it can be done without making the tool/browser hang. Over all it will lead to a lot of chaos. I have tried some of it but it's too slow.
Do you think that you can put it to download videos compatible with iPod touch and iPhone. And if it can do that already ho do you do it?

iPod Touch can play MP4 files I guess; at least iPod Classic can. YouTube offers MP4 files for most of the videos and BYTubeD supports MP4 downloads. That's the default option in Format options.

In any case, BYTubeD doesn't attempt any format conversion. It can only help you get the formats that YouTube offers. YouTube offers videos in FLV, MP4 and WebM formats and at present BYTubeD supports FLV and MP4.
Thank you developers! This is great program, very helpful!
Oh and It doesn't work on FF9. :{ could you do something about it?

Hi,

Just updated the maxVersion - now it can work for up to Firefox 10.*. Please let me know if you see any issues.

Thanks!
Thank you! It worked, before you did that I kept uninstalling my ff9 and installing ff8, so now I don't have to. Thanks again,
Nice work guys! BYTubeD is very useful!
Hey, could you create an option to download only the audio in mp3? That would be great!

Hi,

Supporting MP3 download is quite a non-trivial task. YouTube does not offer things in MP3. It offers only MP4, FLV and some of the videos in WebM formats. BYTubeD is just a helper tool to download what YouTube offers.

Supporting MP3 downloads will require setting up a 3rd  party server where the required conversion happens. And I do not have the resources to do that.

Thanks,
Ram
YouTube video downloader is one of the most common ways that people use to download a video on the internet. The version 1.0.7 beta seems to be the most advanced one with new features. Waiting to read more interesting facts about it in the future.

Thankyou for this useful website.
I myself has discovered an amazing online youtube multi video downloader for absolutely free.
It is surprisingly very fast & lists all the videos from youtube page from :-
1) Youtube Url
2) Search term or
3) Youtube page source code.
You can fetch the download links of any of the listed video. It displays almost all the available "video" & "audio" links (total around 25 download links) seperately.
So, now downloading "Youtube playlist" or "Youtube Channels" has become a lot easier. No need to remember or copy /paste urls of each video every time.

Even, this website also supports "legacy videos/country-restricted or adult videos". So, guys check this out yourself.

This amazing website's url is: http://www.ytripper.com/
